|The press and the politicos are giving much attention to COVID-19 (Novel Cornavirus). But they are missing something that the public is more likely to become afflicted with, influenaza (flu).
Latest update from CDC 3/12/2020:
USA cases of Corona Virus COVID-19: 1215.
USA deaths Corona Virus COVID-19: 36
Flu is FAR worse:
USA cases for the 2019-2020 flu season estimate: 34,000,000 – 49,000,000
USA cases flu deaths 2019-2020 flu season estimate: 20,000 – 52,000.
You are more likely to get the flu in the USA than COVID. Good news is sick folks don't go to mountain bike races. Plus, all the precautions being implemented for COVID-19 will reduce the spread of influenza. The current flu vaccine is about 50% effective, which is certainly better than 0%. I have gotten mine. Do get yours if you have not and have no contraindications to killed flu virus vaccine.
For what it is worth.
