Doc,
I had my knee scoped 1yr ago in Dec and also back in 1993. I had a torn meniscus and a bakers cyst on the back of the knee this last time. The surgeon did not remove the cyst during surgery due to the many nerves. I ride about 100mi/wk road and also mtb about 10-30mi. The pain behind the knee still exist. It also gets inflamed. Can this be removed?
I was told the cyst would go away. Is there any treatment for this? The pain is not unbearable but very noticeable.
Thanks

Cranzer:
Bakers cysts are fluid filled sacks that arises from the bursa (a fluid filled cushioning sack about the tendons) in the back of the knee. Sometimes they will resolve spontaneously. Persistent, bothersome cytss can be surgically removed. Visit with your orthopedic doctor to discuss your options and possible seek a second opinion.

Thanks for the advise. Also I just assuming that the biking probably irritates the cyst, is that correct?

Brent:
The repetive motion of the cranking the knees up an down certainly can aggrivate the Bakers Cyst. Better to get the cyst removed than to give up biking!
