Hello,
To summarize, every since the Bar H race 3 weeks ago I have been having days where I would feel sick with no fever and the right before I was going to go to the DR I would get better. I had 3 episodes like that. I actually raced Flat Creek feeling bad. During the last week I have had minor headaches and my eyes have felt weird. Anyway I woke up Saturday with a headaches and felt really bad. I had a few drinks Friday so figured it was that. Sunday the Headache was worse and I feel worse and now also have fever. First thing Monday I go to the DR and am told it is a sinus infection and am given 3 500mg Zithromax pills to take. Every day since then my fever has gotten higher I am at a minum of 100 in the mornings now and am at 102.8 or so by bed time. I went in to the DR again today and he gave me a hard time about not waiting enough time for the Antibiotics to work. He wasn't even phased by my high fever or headaches. He gave me a steroid shot and said I would be better in a few hours and to come back Friday if I still had problems. My question is after all this is how long after starting antibiotics is it before you start to feel any benefit. I can almost say without a doubt I will feel the same if not worse by Friday. Sucks too becasue the Warda race is the one I have been looking forward to all year. |

Your symptoms are consistent with a sinus infection. Zithromax covers some oragnisms that may cause sinsus infections but not all of the common organisms that can be involved in a sinus infection. As your fever has persisted beyond 48 hours of being on the antibiotic, it indicates that you are not responding. Talk to your doctor again, or seak a second opion with another doctor such as an Otolaryngologist, an Ears, Nose and Throat specialist. Do not delay, as a sinus infection that is not responding to treatment could be a warning sign of complications developing such as an abcess which can rupture into the brain cavity leading to life threatening infection of the brain.

Thanks for the quick response. I think its great that you are willing to take the time to answer questions on the forum. Anyway, I feel so much better today its a whole new world. I still have alot of crap coming out of my sinuses, and a little headache, but no fever and don't feel sick anymore. If the weather holds out I'll be at Warda to spectate for sure.
Regards,
