|To all my fellow racers, supporters, fans, and friends, the TMBRA Board of Directors had a conference call tonight to make some decisions about this spring season’s future. As of today, only the Rocky Hill, Abilene, and Comfort races have been done. Over the weekend USA Cycling suspended all permits through April 2 which put Waco and Pace Bend in jeopardy. Today it was extended to May 2, effectively ending the Double Lake and Dinosaur Valley SP races, leaving only the possibility of Warda on May 16-17. With all of the uncertainty and general reasons why it’s not a good idea, we will not attempt to reschedule anything into the summer.
We voted from several options and have decided that we will declare 2020 Texas State XC MTB Championships to all eligible Cat 1/2 classes and Juniors 10, 12, and 14U based on whatever number of races are run, be it 3 or 4. Jerseys will be awarded to the winner of each of those classes, and an award will be given to the overall winner of all Cat 3 classes. Money contributed by each race pays for the overall awards and since we will be short this year, no tshirts and/or additional top 10 awards will be given. For the either 3 or 4 race series whichever it may be, all races will count for points, the TMBRA Rules Reading available on Bikereg will count, but Paydirt will not be counted this year as the deadline has not yet occurred. Paydirt already earned so far will be applicable for the 2021 Spring Season.
We know not everyone will be happy but we all believe this is our best choice for this unusual year. I am optimistic that Warda might still be able to happen. We can prepare for that in a week or two’s time but will hopefully know in early May if it can be held. In the meantime, stay safe, stay healthy, and hope to see you all soon.
