|Hey Everyone, If you're looking for some low-key XC action our local collegiate conference, the SCCCC, has a couple races coming up with Alumni (loosely translated to "not currently in college") categories. You'll be bumping elbows with current collegiate racers from TAMU, UT, Texas ST, UNT, MSU, Baylor, and several more.
Sept 30 - Oct 1 at Rocky Hill Ranch https://www.usacycling.org/events/getflyer.php?permit=2017-2869
Oct 7 - Oct 8 at Reveille Peak Ranch https://www.usacycling.org/events/getflyer.php?permit=2017-2818
The XC races are on Sunday morning and will consist of an 8-10 mile loop. Number of laps depends on your category (Cat 1 = College A's = 3 laps, 2=B=2 Laps, etc).
And if you want to mix it up even more, Saturday's races will consist of a short track race in the morning and a hill climb race that afternoon.
All races are $15 ($40 if you pre-reg for all three) and USAC license required. Land use is separate.
Flyers and registration for both are up on the USAC website & even calendar. Look for the events "The SCCCC at Rocky Hill Ranch" and "2017 SCCCC MTB Championship".
If you've never been to a collegiate race weekend you're in for a pleasant surprise. Race production is very low key compared to TMBRA, no big sponsors, no feed station, no concessions, etc. A typical weekend consists of camping, eating, hanging out, and bit of bike racing in the morning and evening.
