I've noticed an increased pain in near my wrists (slightly above on the top side of my hand), and in my index and middle fingers. I get a lot of pain after typing and writing. I've tried changing the grip on the handle bars of my MT Bike, relaxing my upper body and not typing, but the pain is slowly getting worse. A few times my right hand has hurt so bad I couldn't move it. Is this a sign of tendonitis? |

Your symptoms sound more consistent with carpal tunnel syndrome. The clue is the pain going into your index and middle finger. Your typing can cause repetitive use injury that can aggravate the carpal tunnel syndrome
See your physician about your symptoms. You may benefit from splinting while you are typing and having a splint on when you are asleep. This helps prevent repetitive use injury and hyperflexion and hyperextension of the wrist during your sleeping hours. Tendonitis can be a trigger for carpal tunnel syndrome and splinting will help rest the tendons and allow them to heal.
If you are a twist shifter, you should switch to trigger shifting to minimize the flexion and extension of your wrist that occurs with twist shifting.
Go to this link for a detailed discussion and follow the additional link in it for further elaboration on carpal tunnel syndrome.
